Cass County Programs

Community Service

The Cass County Juvenile Office offers community service as a means for youthful offenders to "pay back" to the community for their offenses.

Youth are matched with volunteer positions at various nonprofit organizations in Cass County, and assigned a specific number of hours to work for their community service.

In 2012, 255 youth were referred to the Community Service Program. Those youth completed 1,807 hours of community service at the following sites:
  • Life Quest Church
  • Shepherd's Food Pantry
  • HELP Humane
  • Belton Food Pantry
  • Pleasant Hill Recycling
  • Garden City Police Department

Educational Programs

These educational programs are conducted in a group setting, and designed to address issues that led to the youth becoming involved with the juvenile justice system and to help them become productive young adults. Included in the array of educational classes are:
  • Stealing Doesn't Pay
  • Conflict Resolution / Anger Management
  • Study Skills
  • Law Related Education
  • Decision Making
  • Gender Specific Groups
